Dialysis is an alternative to the functions of natural kidneys when the kidneys get damaged. Usually, patients during their later stage of kidney failure opt for dialysis for an immediate treatment. If a person’s levels of toxic waste in their body increases which starts to become sick from them and he or she may need dialysis. High level of metabolic waste products starts building up slowly. A doctor usually orders a prime test that measures several blood-chemical levels in the kidney patient’s body. As the BUN-creatinine levels rise, it may indicate the decreasing ability of the kidneys to cleanse the body of metabolic waste. Ayurvedic treatment for dialysis patients

Types of dialysis

Hemodialysis is the kind of dialysis treatment where the blood is cleaned inside the body itself. The doctor will do surgery to place a plastic tube called a catheter into the abdomen to make access. During the treatment, the area of the abdomen slowly starts filling with dialysis through the catheter. The blood stays in the veins and arteries that surround the peritoneal cavity. Extra fluid and waste products are removed from the blood and into the dialysis. There are two major kinds of peritoneal dialysis.

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) is can be done anywhere at home or work with ease. However, in the starting, the patient will need a minor operation to place a catheter in the abdomen. In the peritoneal dialysis, the blood is cleaned inside the body and not outside. The lining of the belly acts as a natural filter during the process. The treatment dialysis is a purification solution which flows into the abdomen with the help of a soft tube called a PD catheter. Extra fluid and toxic waste passes from the blood into the cleansing solution. The process can be repeated after few hours in which the drain is used and the solution from the abdomen can be refilled with a fresh cleaning solution for the next round.
